Space Coast Race
Had it all!!!!

Eddy Yalan Wins GX1 Gas Cat at Space Coast Race |

David Miller Wins GX1 Gas Mono at Space Coast Race |

Steve Adams Wins Classic Thunderboat at Space Coast Race |
The Spacecoast Rudder Busters have a beautiful
race site with District 3's only natural driver stand in the
series. A beautiful grass hillside looking down on a great lake
to run on. The lake was incredibly flat Saturday morning which
made it loads of fun to let loose the small nitro boats. The
gas prices and Memorial day weekend made the race on the smaller
side with roughly 100 boats entered in the weekend's racing.
The weather stayed hot and beautiful until around 4 PM when Thunderstroms
rolled in and racing was finished until Sunday Morning.
What changes can occur in one day! A wonderful Sunday morning,
clear weather and really rough water...What happened? A wind
change. So now we go from calm water racing to our super rough
water setup and lot's of concentration to survive!
Well survive, many did, and the list of winners on the Race Results
Link at the top of the web page shows who took home the gold.
Check these weekend highlights out:
David Miller's Speedfreek Gas Mono looked like it was on a rail
all weekend. He won GX1 Gas Mono with 1500 points, missing a
perfect weekend score with a 2nd place finish in the 4th round.
Gas Cat racing was super hot. New District 3 Racer Eddy Yalan
took the 1st place trophy and got a trophy bath, for winning
his first District 3 High Points trophy. Check out the great
picture in the District 3 photo gallery from this race. He never
knew it was coming. A full bucket of Ice Water!
Robert Garcia who just got his Rico Rigger back Friday from Richard
Lind, won Gas Rigger and beat the clock up by slamming full speed
into the clock in the 4th round of gas rigger action.
In GX1 Gas Rigger I wanted to miss the Yellow Rigger in the front
straightaway, but ended up being a torpedo into the corner of
the Space Coast Chase boat in the process. Sorry Spacecoast~
Back to the woodshop with this one!
In Classic Thunderboat, Perry Walters beautiful Greed Thunderboat,
also tried to miss a boat on the front straight,(Tammy Farrow's
beautiful 7 Eleven). Instead he became a sidewinder missle into
the engine itself on the Spacecoast's Chaseboat. Not only was
the Greed boat pretty badly hurt , the engine was actually broken
off it's motor mount, and the engine was broken in half!!! You
have to see the pictures of this one. (Again check the pics out
in our Photo gallary). Perry Walters told us the engine got the
worse of the two, and the Thunderboat will be back Thundering
again...

No Camping Allowed at Palm Beach Race
|
District III racers take note, with Palm Beach Clubs' new race
site still in it's infancy, they have not been able to gain permission
to allow RV's or campers of any kind to stay in the park overnight.
Make sure you make arrangements for moving out RV's and staying
overnight outside of the park for Friday night and Saturday night.
That means no sleeping in trailers, campers, RV's, etc...no exceptions....
See you all there! |

Are we adrenallin junkies or is it just
that District 3 racers just can't get enough RC boat racing action.
As the year goes on, life has pulled lots of punches. The economy
has caught everyone in a down turn, and we still go off and race.
The cost of gas and food and everything else we all need and
use, continues to rise, and we still go off and race. I think
it's in times like this we need our racing hobby even more!
For just 2 days our thoughts are lost in how can I run well this
weekend? What do I have to do to make my boats better? Why can't
I drive better? I work on my H2O missles, getting them ready
for a few moments of incredible fun. Along with our mechanical
and driving thoughts, friends and family's get togethers, the
socializing, the dining together, and talking together, and 2
days in the Florida sunshine sure makes it all worth while.
Monday comes, it's back to work. Looking forwad to the next stop
on the District 3 racing trail.
